Soft tissue Therapy
Soft tissue therapy is often an important part of how chiropractors help the body heal, especially when dealing with chronic pain. Cupping, soft tissue mobilization, stretching, dry needling, and percussion therapy are types of soft tissue therapy.
Soft tissue therapy is excellent for reducing pain and stiffness; it also improves flexibility, posture, and athletic performance. It’s commonly used for conditions including sciatica, plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, and postural strain.
Soft tissue therapy is effective for both acute injuries and chronic conditions, including:
- Repetitive Use Injuries: Carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, and tendonitis.
- Back and Neck Pain: Including whiplash and tension headaches.
- Lower Extremity Issues: Sciatica, plantar fasciitis, and hamstring strains.
- Soft Tissue Damages: Sprains, strains, and bruises.
Benefits of Soft tissue therapy:
–Reduced Pain and Muscle Tension: Releases trigger points/knots and tension, providing immediate, long-lasting relief from discomfort.
–Improved Mobility and Flexibility: Reducing adhesions and relaxing tight muscles improves and restores range of motion.
–Accelerated Healing: Improves blood circulation, allowing necessary oxygen and nutrients to be delivered to damaged tissues to speed up recovery.
–Enhances Chiropractic Adjustments: Relaxed muscles allow for more effective, longer-lasting adjustments because tight muscles are less likely to pull joints out of alignment.
–Injury Prevention: Correcting muscular imbalances reduces the risk of future strains or sprains.
Cupping Therapy
Cupping Therapy is an ancient therapeutic technique that involves placing special cups on the skin to create suction. It is used to promote healing, improve circulation, and relieve pain or discomfort. Cupping therapy has been practiced for centuries in various cultures, including traditional Chinese medicine.
Cups made of glass, bamboo, silicone, plastic, or other materials are applied to specific areas of the body. A suction device creates a vacuum effect, which causes the skin and underlying tissue to be drawn up into the cup. The cups are left in place for a few minutes or can be moved along the body’s surface using oil or lotion for a gliding or sliding technique. The suction can help to release tension, improve blood flow, and promote the flow of energy throughout the body. Energy is known as “Qi” or “Chi” in traditional Chinese medicine. Cupping is believed to remove stagnant energy, toxins, and other impurities from the body. Cupping therapy can leave temporary marks or discoloration on the skin, known as “cupping marks, ” that disappear within a few days. The intensity of the suction can vary from light to strong depending on the individual’s needs and preferences.
Cupping can improve circulation, reduce inflammation, boost the immune system, ease pain and inflammation, promote relaxation, release toxins and stagnation, support natural healing, and release trigger points. Conditions cupping can be helpful for include: low back pain, neck and shoulder tension, stress relief, elbow problems, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, IT Band restrictions, knee problems, plantar fasciitis, acid reflux, TMJ disorders, sinus congestion.

IASTM
Insturment Assisted Soft Tissue Mobiliazation (IASTM) uses specialized stainless steel instruments on the surrounding muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and other connective tissue to break up adhesions, reduce inflammation, and improve circulation, assisting in relieving tension, encouraging healthy tissue repair, promoting faster recovery, restoring musculoskeletal function, and enhancing overall function and wellness to help the body heal naturally.
